How We Calculate This

This calculator determines the stitch count needed for a crochet border by calculating stitches along each edge and adding corner stitches.

The formula

Width stitches = Width (cm) x Stitch gauge per cm (top & bottom)

Length stitches = Length (cm) x Row gauge per cm (sides)

Round 1 total = (Width sts x 2) + (Length sts x 2) + (3 x 4 corners)

Each subsequent round adds approximately 8 stitches (2 at each corner).
