Crochet Border Calculator — Stitches for Edging & Borders
Calculate the number of stitches needed for a crochet border or edging around a finished piece.
Width of piece to border
Length of piece to border
How We Calculate This
This calculator determines the stitch count needed for a crochet border by calculating stitches along each edge and adding corner stitches.
The formula
Width stitches = Width (cm) x Stitch gauge per cm (top & bottom)
Length stitches = Length (cm) x Row gauge per cm (sides)
Round 1 total = (Width sts x 2) + (Length sts x 2) + (3 x 4 corners)
Each subsequent round adds approximately 8 stitches (2 at each corner).
