How much extra yarn does brioche use?

Brioche knitting typically uses about 1.5 times as much yarn as stockinette stitch for the same area. This is because every row creates two layers of fabric — each stitch is worked with its paired yarn over from the previous row.

How is yarn split in two-colour brioche?

In two-colour brioche, each colour is worked on alternate rows. The total yarn is split roughly equally between the two colours, so each colour needs about half the total brioche yarn estimate.

Can I adjust the brioche multiplier?

Yes — the default multiplier is 1.5x, which works well for most brioche fabrics. If you knit very tightly you may use slightly less (1.4x), and very loose brioche or syncopated brioche may use up to 1.6x. Adjust the multiplier in Advanced Options.
