Terms of Use

Last updated:

These terms govern your use of knitcalcs.uk (the “site”). By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. What the site provides

The site is a free library of knitting and crochet calculators plus reference content — covering yarn quantities, gauge and tension, stitch counts, garment sizing, shaping and project planning. It is provided “as is” without account registration or payment.

2. Accuracy and your own swatch

Calculators are estimates based on standard yarn weights, established knitting and crochet practice, and the gauge or tension figures you enter. Real-world results depend on your own tension, the specific yarn brand and fibre you use, your needle or hook, and how the finished piece behaves when blocked. Always knit or crochet a gauge (tension) swatch, measure it after blocking, and check your stitch and row counts before casting on a whole project or buying yarn.

Treat every result as a starting point, not a guarantee. Yarn quantities in particular can vary with stitch pattern, ease and individual tension, so buy a little extra from the same dye lot where you can. We round and estimate conservatively, but we cannot account for every pattern, fibre or knitter, so verify quantities and measurements against your own swatch and your pattern before you commit.
